Flee away from temptation.

A few years ago, I went to visit my friend impromptu. I got to her house, knocked on the door but her brother answered.

In front of me was a hot piece of caramel ice cream. He had sexy eyes, muscular body, complete six packs, Jesus I couldn’t get my eyes off his body. In fact I wanted to run my hands over his abs and feel his muscle.

Jeezzzz.

But…

I asked for my friend and he told me she wasn’t in. Then alarm bells started to ring.

Let me pause here

I lived in NCCF family house during my service year and there was a rule, you must be fully kitted. What does this mean? You had to be fully clothed at all times, even when you’re going to the bathroom to have your bath. You cannot tie a towel to the bathroom or out of it, you are not to wear handless gowns or tops, men are not to wear shorts or three-quarter trouser, and I remember thinking the rules were too strict or very unnecessary.

But years later while standing in front of my friend’s house, it was then I realised the rules were important and the need to always be “fully kitted”.

I had already put a step into the house but immediately my friend’s brother told me my friend wasn’t home, I hurriedly told him goodbye and left.

Why did I RUN? I was saving myself.

The bible says that we should flee every appearance of evil. It did not say we should wait & analyse, or wait and prove that you’re strong but that you should RUN. Run without looking back. When you know the destiny ahead of you, you’ll RUN and leave your shoes behind.

That day was my first time seeing a man’s body and trust me I wanted to run my hands over them. It was late in the evening, a girl & a boy with raging hormones all alone in a house; what is that? A recipe for disaster.

I could have waited to gist with him, you know small talk, but I didn’t because, I don’t know what would have happened next. Seeing his body alone, my heart and eyes were already doing kin kum kin kum, lol. But you get.

Some people won’t have fallen if only they didn’t ignore those warning signs and Ran for their lives.

I am telling you today, RUN away from temptations. RUN away from compromising situations. Don’t put yourself in a position that you would sin against God; especially you that have a bright future.

Don’t joke about this.

If you don’t trust yourself, Lean on the Lord, ask for Grace. Don’t be with the opposite sex ALONE in a room. Sin thrives on SECRECY. Be accountable to someone. Don’t stimulate your desire for sex by engaging in foreplay. Move with people of like minds.

Don’t try yourself.

The bible says, he that thinketh he stands, should take heed lest he falls. Don’t ever think you cannot fall. We are mere mortals simply existing by the Grace of God.

You are not promised that you won’t face temptations, the devil will always try, but we are promised that in the midst of a temptation, he will provide a means of escape. This is what God says

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)

The choice is yours. What will you do today?

My forthcoming book is based on Sexual Purity and it will be out soon.

Thank you for reading.
