I ONCE DOUBTED MY WORTH

Hello everyone, please forgive me I’ve being MIA this week, of course, there are several reasons for that, but since I hate giving excuses, I will just say I’m sorry for being away from the blog.

On Wednesday; the 15th, which was the day I turned 29, I wrote a post on my Instagram page, in which I wrote about how I was fighting depression and despite the fact that I was looking forward to November, I wasn’t happy when my birthday finally came.

I wrote about how I doubted my worth, doubted my uniqueness and my contributions. But I later deleted the post, thinking it was inappropriate but a quote Toke Makinwa shared on her page gave me the courage to write this here.

People who know or see me feel like I have a perfect life, but that is far from the truth. I go through struggles and challenges just like everyone else but thank God we don’t look like what we’ve been through.

It was very unusual for me not to be excited about my birthday, it just felt like a normal day; maybe I’m getting old lol. I wasn’t happy honestly, but it took the intervention of my mum that snapped me out of depression and made me thankful to God.

In this social media age that we are, sometimes the picture perfect lives we paint doesn’t really help people, so I decided to write a post people could relate to.

My sister couldn’t believe I doubted my worth; someone told me I’m hard working and unfortunately, for some minutes I doubted it. No matter how shocking it is, I once doubted my worth.

One thing I have learnt in this my short journey of life is this; no matter how people see you, you must be able to see it for yourself. People can only carry you for a time, the responsibility of your life lies in your hand.

I urge you, dear readers, to live your truth, come to the acceptance of who you are. If you look into the mirror and you don’t like what you see, then change it. Don’t leave your life to happenstance.

I’m rooting for you guys, thank you for reading. I love you.
