Colossians 3:1-2 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your heart on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God . Set your mind on things above and not on earthly things.”

Every Kingdom has a constitution, a body of fundamental principles or established precedents to which it acknowledges to be governed.

Our guiding principle in the Kingdom of God is His word, the bible and we are expected to abide by it as we sojourn upon the earth.

To live a life where we are constantly above every situation, it is fundamental for us to know the mind of God and understand how he would react were he to be faced with the situations we are faced with upon the earth.

To effectively do this, we must give ourselves daily to the study of this constitution. We must understand what it says about us and we must be ready to apply it upon situations that confront us.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV), “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.

There is the right application of God’s word for every situation, but if we do not know it, it would be impossible to live above the situation.

Our constitution shows Jesus’ reaction to different situation which sets examples for us when we are faced with similar circumstances.

For instance, faced with a crowd of people to feed in Matthew 14:21-35, first we see his compassion in his unwillingness to send them away without something to eat and then we see his attitude of gratitude as he raised the five loaves of bread and two fishes towards heaven and gave thanks.

He understood the power in his thanksgiving whenever he was faced with a situation that would otherwise be termed impossible, showing his absolute faith and confidence in God that hears and also answers prayers. The same principle he applied when faced with the death of Lazarus in John Chapter 11. He gave thanks and then he spoke “Lazarus come forth”.

1st John 5: 14-15 “ And this is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us and if we know he hears us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petition that we desired of him”.

The secret of living life above is our asking according to His will, whatever we ask that is according to His will we have assurance that He hears us and answers us. His will is His word, our constitution.

Colossians 3: 16 “Let the word of God dwell in you richly…….” Therein contains answers to questions, examples for living life and so much more that if practiced and spoken will engage our life into a propelling force that cannot be reckoned with making it possible for us to live above whatever situation or circumstance life on earth throws to us.

Today is a gift; don’t let it go to waste.
