When you see a tree it may be difficult at first glance to tell what kind of tree it is, but if you see the fruits from the tree, it is much easier to identify it.

Matthew 7:16 “By their fruits you shall know them……..” When you interact with people over a period of time, it is very easy to tell where they belong by the fruits they produce. In fact Jesus made this clearer to us in verse 18 “A good tree cannot produce bad fruits and a bad tree cannot produce good fruits”

Whatever you are producing now is directly proportional to your being good or bad. What fruits can be identified on your tree?

Let us look at some of the attitudes of the Kingdom of Heaven; attitudes that when people see clearly identifies us with our King.

One very fundamental fruit that our King expects us to bear is Love. In fact He clearly states that this is the distinguishing factor when men see us to enable them tell we are of His kingdom.

John 13:35 “By this shall all men tell that you are my disciples when you have love for one another”.

It is not by being a church worker, not by speaking the language of the kingdom, not by carrying big bibles and preaching well-articulated sermons not even by speaking in tongues but rather by showing love.

Love is an action word, so when you say you love someone it must be seen in the way you treat the person. 1st Corinthians 13:4-7 clearly paints the portrait of love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Reading the scripture above can you honestly say you walk in love? Can you substitute your name with the word Love and can that aptly describe you?

Our King and Father has demonstrated His love for us, laying down the life of His son on the cross while we were yet unlovable and sinful and His expectation is that just as He loves us we will replicate His love in our lives to the world we live in.

Wouldn’t this world be a truly beautiful place to live in, if each of us who claim we are citizens of Heaven live our lives selflessly, putting others ahead of ourselves and truly showing who our King is?

1st John 4:7-8 “Beloved let us love one another, for Love is of God and anyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He that loves not, knows not God for God is love”.

God is love! He expects us to be like Him. He expects us to be love. Consciously go about your day today showing love to the people God orders your way. As you show them love, you truly are showing them God.

Today is a gift; don’t let it go to waste.
