Living Above

Tuesday September 20 2016

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith”.
I John 5:4 (NKJV)

For the purposes of our considerations this week, God's will and ways will be referred to as His point of view.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways
higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”.
Isaiah 55:9 (KJV)

'Living above' is not something the natural man is equipped to do. The ability to operate from God's point of view is the exclusive preserve of the born again child of God; one whose spirit has been regenerated by the Spirit of God and is continuously being filled with Him.

But because you - your spirit man - lives within a body (the flesh), even though you are born again, your flesh needs to be trained to allow your regenerated spirit man expression.

As Believers, we are in error when we go with the flow and follow the rules that govern the system and customs of this world, just because we live and operate in it. We are not called to live normal lives and to respond to life's situations naturally, but to a higher quality of life, where God's point of view controls our thoughts and actions.

Walking by faith is what ensures we live above (1 John 5:4) and to walk by faith is to not walk by what you see and understand in the natural (2 Corinthians
5:7). It is to defer to God at all times and in all things, obeying whatever His point of view demands, in spite of what we may be seeing and/or feeling as very real, reasonable, logical, tangible and even sensible, in the physical.
There are disciplines we must imbibe if we must succeed at walking by faith. Remember, never be deceived that once you're born again that's it. Your flesh will fight your living above and must consciously be put under.

The apostle Paul said, “But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service]”. 1 Corinthians 9:27(AMP)

He wasn't leaving anything to chance there. Neither should you.

Prayer is one of the disciplines you must make your own if you are to know God's point of view, make it your own and by it, live above.

“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me”... Habakkuk
2:1b (KJV)

Note that this verse of scripture says you will see and not hear what God will say to you. Prayer is you having a conversation with God and when you discipline yourself to pray, God will cause you to see, that is, understand His point of view on the things you take to Him in prayer, whether you are praying for yourself, others, certain issues or the nation.

The more you pray, the more you see things His way and the more sure-footed your walking by faith becomes. Ultimately, greater will be your experience of Christ's victory in life - personally and otherwise.

Today is a gift; don't let it go to waste
