For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1John 5:4 (NKJV)

For the purposes of our considerations this week, God's will and ways will be referred to as His point of view.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways
higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:9 (KJV)

'Look before you leap' - an idiom used to admonish one to stop and think of the consequences before you act; to ascertain from the facts, indices, traditions and maybe past experiences and so on, the outcome of a choice before you make it; wise advice, in many instances.

As followers of Jesus who desire to imbibe God's point of view and live above, it is required that we always look before we act or speak, but our looking is to be done within.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons
of God.
Romans
8:14 (KJV)

No matter how tried and trusted statistics, data, research facts and personal experience gathered may be, the only truly reliable guide for your life per time, per instance, is the Holy Spirit. That you have gotten favourable results from doing something a certain way every time so far does not mean you will the next. He's the only one who can accurately guide you to calmly ignore an insult this time, but in another instance, require that you rebuke the person in love. He's the one who can accurately lead you to just pray about an issue this time, but go out and take action in a certain way the next.

A wife cannot always leave an unfaithful husband. Saving money may not always lead to increase. Telling someone what the Lord has told you about him may not always help. Resigning from a job to take one that pays less may just be the way to go at times. To live above, you must stay in constant touch with the One who knows the heart of your Father whose thoughts and ways are higher than yours and that which seems logical and even right.
If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:23-24 (NKJV)

None of this is to say that you should not think things through. You were created with a mind and intelligence so that you may use it! What is being said is that to live above, you cannot lean on your own understanding to do so. To judge righteously is to find out God's point of view on a matter or in a situation and assess things accordingly. It is to act or speak in the way it demands per time.

So that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His power]. Romans 8:4  (Amp.)

Today is a gift; don't let it go to waste.
