“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith”. I John 5:4 (NKJV)

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding”.] John 16:33  (Amp.)

This was Jesus, telling His disciples what to expect here on earth as His followers - tribulation, distress, suffering... Does any of that sound like what you may have been experiencing of late?

Well, it's not God punishing you for anything and it's certainly not that He has forgotten or forsaken you. It is simply what we have been told to expect, once we choose to live uprightly and in the will of God for our lives.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”.
2Timothy 3:12  (KJV)

Are you a follower of Jesus whose heart disposition is to seek and do the will of God and to, by His grace, live a life worthy of His calling? Then know that persecution, trials and problems come with the territory.

God does not send bad situations and tough times your way, but He allows them at certain seasons of your life and uses them to your advantage; to build your character and your faith muscles. Consider this, the harder oranges are squeezed, the more the orange juice you get out of them...

Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith
[through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing”.
James 1:2-4 (Amp.)

The natural, human (if you like) thing to do during difficult times is to worry and get depressed. If care is not taken, you begin to lose sight of the promises of God to you and the fact that He has promised to never leave nor forsake you.

To 'live above', however, is to choose to see things from God's point of view; that the tough times are not insurmountable problems, but rather stepping stones to greater heights and levels in Christ. It is to know that your Father is looking to see 'Jesus juice' expressed from your life.

To live above will be to consider it nothing but joy when you find yourself going through a tough season, and to be courageous, confident and undaunted, because Jesus has already overcome the world and all it offers.

And because you are born of God in Christ Jesus who has overcome, you overcome and have abiding victory by your faith! Your unwavering trust in God and what He has promised.

As you step into this week, choose to embrace each day with joy as you trust firmly in all the Lord has promised you this season, because He WILL do as He has said. It's a new week, a new day, a new dawn.

Today is a gift, don't let it go to waste.
